One third of Citrus County has been set aside for parks or recreational areas. The area is referred to as the Nature Coast – an area of almost a million acres where it is easy to discover the ‘Old Florida’ charm … dense forests, prairies, and spring-fed rivers. Ample opportunities exist for trail hiking, kayaking, bicycling, fishing, bird watching, and many other activities. Even so, you are never far from a town – some quaint and historically significant – where you can still enjoy the comforts of home. Below are area links to help you find almost everything you will need to enjoy the area.
